Hello, I’m Madelynn, the founder known as the “cookie lady” behind Cookies4College.

 

Driven by my own college journey, I turned baking into a mission to help students escape heavy student loan debt.

 

Every purchase goes directly toward scholarships for driven college students.

 

As a current junior, I use proceeds to cover my tuition and plan to award scholarships from $1,000 to $5,000 after graduation through Cookies4College.

 

Soon, our first storefront opens in downtown Harlingen at 119 W. Van Buren, Suite 6, by the end of December 2025.

Medina, known for his determination from walk-on tryout to scholarship athlete, announced the diagnosis on social media and remains focused on overcoming this setback.

 

Currently hospitalized in San Antonio, he expressed gratitude for the care he’s receiving and his intent to return stronger to the football field.

 

At 5-foot-11 and 318 pounds, Medina played a crucial role in UTRGV’s debut season, starting the first four games and earning respect as a fierce competitor.

 

Medina’s journey has inspired many in the Valley, with a GoFundMe now supporting his family during treatment.

San Benito's Christmas at the Park Returns with Festive Delights

San Benito will shine bright this season as the Rotary Club hosts its beloved Christmas at the Park on December 14, 2025, from 12–6 p.m. at Rotary Centennial Park, 305 Doherty Street.

 

Families can enjoy festive fun, from a petting zoo and pony rides to lively game booths like cupcake walks and Plinko.

 

Local school groups and The Charley’s Angels line dancers take the stage starting at 12:15 p.m., keeping the energy high with performances until 5:30 p.m.

 

Children will delight in meeting strolling mariachis, elves, and guest characters, and snapping photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus, or the Grinch.

 

Arriving at 2 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will lead the day’s highlights, capped by the Rotary Park Christmas Tree lighting.
