This Weekend in the Valley |
Your weekend in the Valley, in a minute.
🌳 Free Trees in Pharr, Friday, Nov. 6 |
Pharr Parks & Recreation is giving away 1-gallon trees at its Texas Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the José "Pepe" Salinas Memorial Recreation Center (the skate park), 1011 W. Kelly Ave. The trees come from a Texas A&M Forest Service greening grant and go while supplies last.
Neighbors will also plant 15 native trees in the park that evening, with local vendors and family activities. The city's page doesn't list a cost. Since the trees go while supplies last, earlier is better.
🇺🇸 Pharr Salutes Its Veterans, Saturday, Nov. 7 |
The City of Pharr's Salute to Veterans Parade starts at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Pharr, 200 S. Cage Blvd. The city hasn't posted the route, so if you want to plan a spot to watch, call (956) 402-2400 or email events@pharr-tx.gov.

Expressway, both nights from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday belongs to the Valley's own Ache de Barrio, with special guest Son Del Sur. Saturday's headliner is Del Castillo, whose mix of flamenco, rock and Latin rhythms has landed on the soundtracks of "Kill Bill Vol. 2" and "Sin City," with The Sound opening.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and seating is open. Tickets are sold online through the festival's page. Seniors 60 and up and students can pay $20 at the door the day of the show with a valid ID.
