If you've driven down East Oleander Avenue in La Feria, you may have passed a spot that's part bookstore and part coffee shop.

Well Refuge opened in 2024 as a Bible bookstore and hangout, and this October it turns 2. Its owners describe it as a faith-based business that serves as a para-ministry, and as the first of its kind in the Rio Grande Valley.

You can grab a coffee or a matcha, browse Bibles and books, get something to eat and stay a while. Their own motto sums it up: Shop, Eat, Pray, Connect.

To celebrate, Well Refuge has new specials starting Oct. 5, plus a month of community events, including Bible study, Faith & Fitness, creative nights and a free Worship Flag Workout. Sign-up details are on their Facebook page.

It's veteran-owned. Everyone who's reviewed it on Facebook recommends it, and so do I.

The details:

Where: 220 E. Oleander Ave., Ste. 1, La Feria

Hours: Weekdays, generally between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Hours vary, so check their Facebook page before you go.

Phone: (956) 277-0180

Full disclosure: Well Refuge's owners are members of the church I pastor. A two-year-old local bookstore that pours a good cup of coffee would make our list either way.
