Annual Celebration Brings Holiday Cheer to Rotary Centennial Park |
The holiday season in San Benito is set to sparkle as the Rotary Club hosts its annual Christmas at the Park on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rotary Centennial Park, located at 305 Doherty Street.
This cherished event promises a day filled with festive activities for families and community members of all ages.
Attendees can look forward to a variety of attractions, including a petting zoo, pony rides, and game booths featuring favorites like the duck pond, corn hole, cupcake walk, basketball toss, Plinko, and the ever-popular Chancla toss.
Stage performances will commence at 12:15 p.m. and continue until 5:30 p.m., showcasing talents from local schools such as La Encantada, Fred Booth, Dr. Cash, Frank Roberts, San Benito High School, Rangerville, and Sullivan Elementary Schools.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the community line dance group, The Charley’s Angels, will perform, and Wild B104’s Jay Cantu will serve as guest DJ, providing energetic music and commentary throughout the day.
Strolling mariachis, roaming elves, and guest characters will be present to delight children and families alike.
Local food vendors will offer a variety of delicious options, including tacos, sandwiches, pupusas, and holiday treats.
A professional photographer will be available for portraits with Santa, Mrs. Claus, or the Grinch.
The highlight of the celebration will be the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at 2 p.m., followed by the lighting of the Rotary Park Christmas Tree later in the day.
Children are encouraged to write letters to Santa, many of which will be published in the San Benito News Christmas edition.
This community event is not a fundraiser but is funded through Rotary Club allocations and donations supporting its humanitarian projects.
Major sponsors include San Benito CISD and the district’s Fine Arts Director, Roddy Martinez, McCoy’s, along with community supporter Randal Crane and hundreds who contributed through ShrimpFest ticket purchases.
Additional in-kind support is provided by Wild B104, Photos by Tony Yanez, and San Benito Mayor Rick Guerra and his wife, who volunteer their time portraying Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The Rotary Club, now celebrating 106 years of community service, welcomes everyone to attend this festive occasion.
